This Directory is designed to serve as a general guide to various educational programs and services in selected urban centres in Alberta. It does not endorse any of the listed programs and services.

Language for HealthCare Aide

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Students will develop the English language skills needed to be successful in the Health Care Aide Workplace program and as practicing Health Care Aides.This online, self-paced program allows students to choose when and how often they study and includes five courses that must be completed within 6 months of beginning the program. Students will learn how to take a multiple-choice exam and should expect to spend about 10 hours a week to complete the program in four months.

English Foundations

English Foundations is designed for new Albertans looking to improve their English skills, as well as international learners who are looking to enter the English for Academic Purposes program but have not yet reached the required level of proficiency. 3 l

LINC (Full-Time)

LINC

Language instruction for newcomers who are not yet Canadian citizens. These full-time classes range from CLB 1 to CLB 5. As with all LINC, the focus of these classes is language development and settlement skills.

LINC (Evening)

LINC

Language instruction for newcomers who are not yet Canadian citizens. These part-time evening classes range from CLB 4 to CLB 6. As with all LINC, the focus of these classes is language development and settlement skills.

LINC (various)

LINC

The Language Instruction for Newcomer to Canada LINC) program supports students to improve their English language skills while learning about life in Canada. Settlement and employment topics are included in LINC classes to facilitate students' integration and future employment goals. NorQuest also offers specialized LINC classes with focuses on work/volunteer experience, American Sign Language (ASL), Rural Delivery, Literacy, and more. LINC students will also have opportunities to connect with community partners and access additional student support services at NorQuest College. NorQuest offers full-time or part-time classes at various levels, with online or face-to-face options. Please visit our website for program details.
