Reading and Vocabulary (Day Program)

English as a Second Language (ESL)

6 levels of courses are available and range from a focus on reading descriptive texts for information and instruction, and acquiring basic vocabulary to evaluating and critiquing texts, and applying strategies for the improvement of reading speed, comprehension, academic and professional vocabulary. Academic Grammar and Writing (NESL 704) Evening Classes Online

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Learn skills needed to write with confidence in academic settings. Learn structures and features of writing to communicate with coherence and unity. Practice structures and formats needed in a post-secondary context, including sentence structure, paragraph construction, and different types of essays. Writing with convincing analysis and interpretation, and demonstration of critical thinking will also be emphasized. With the skills developed in this course, you will be able to write with increased confidence in professional and academic settings. Online Registration is available for this course.

ELP Intensive Preparation Course (NESL 716) Online

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Prepare for the NAIT English Language Proficiency (ELP) assessment exam. With the skills obtained in this intensive preparation course, you will become familiar with each section of the assessment exam. Become aware of specific exam requirements and expectations, and learn strategies to finish each section of the exam within required time parameters. Increase your knowledge of the writing exam by reviewing essay and graph questions. Practice the different sections of the speaking test. Develop test-taking strategies for the reading and listening sections of the exam, and complete each task with confidence on exam day. Online registration is available for this course.

IELTS Preparation Course - Writing Focus (NESL717) Evening classes online

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Take the IELTS Academic English Language Test with confidence! Master tips and techniques that can help you improve your score, especially in the writing component, which tends to be the most challenging part. With personalized feedback from experienced IELTS professionals, practice the essential skills in all four components of the test (reading, listening, speaking, and writing) with a special emphasis on improving your writing skills. English as a Second Language (ESL)

Improve your overall English fluency by participating in this ESL listening and speaking class. Learn different communication strategies. Practice speaking in the classroom to gain confidence in English communication. Learn different listening strategies and be able to interact in a variety of settings. Practice pronunciation with directed instruction from skilled instructors. The activities in this course will allow you to increase fluency, improve pronunciation, and communicate with confidence in the community, workplace, or academic settings.
