Language Assessment

The Language Assessment, Referral, and Counselling Centre (LARCC) offers English language and literacy tests for newcomers. Our tests, based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB), are accepted all across Canada for educational purposes. After the test, we will provide more information about how you can register for English classes, academic upgrading, career training programs, and more. Our services are free for permanent residents, Canadian citizens, and Convention refugees.

WE OFFER THE FOLLOWING ENGLISH TESTS:

  • Canadian Language Benchmark Literacy Placement Test (CLB-LPT)
  • Canadian Language Benchmark Placement Test (CLBPT)
  • Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment (CLBA)
  • Enhanced Language Training Placement Assessment (ELTPA)

A message from a client:

"Thank you. I’m happy to know that Catholic Social Services try to know more about us after our test. Sometimes I receive an email “Did you start an English class?” or something like that. I’m happy to know that you care about our careers and well-being here.

-Tano Marie Louise

Applying for Canadian citizenship?

None of our English tests can be used for proof of language proficiency in your citizenship application; you will need to take either CELPIP or IELTS. However, if you would like to take free English classes to meet your language requirement, we can help. Read more about the language requirements for citizenship here or attend a free webinar.
