1-Step Employment for Newcomers

Employment Readiness

Are you a newcomer to Canada? Are you looking for assistance settling and finding a job in Edmonton? The 1-Step Employment for Newcomers Program is here to provide you with all the support you need!

One-on-one job search assistance, Job Search Skills workshops, Employer Connections and Career Fairs are available to you at no cost.

These are preparation workshops available for clients to assess their job preparedness. Information about the labour market and hiring trends are covered and discussed to eliminate barriers.

Equipment Operator Training Program

Short-Term Career Training

The Equipment Operator Training Program is a full-time training program for up to 11-weeks. Participants will be supported in conducting occupational and industry research, develop individual training plans, and make informed decisions. This no cost training includes Class 3 drivers training with the manual transmission component, industry required safety certification and the opportunity to train for either vacuum truck or water truck operations at the SATO Canada training facility.

BredinWorks for Internationally Educated Professionals

Employment Readiness

Are you looking for support to have your Foreign Qualifications recognized, attain licensure to work in your field in Canada, and/or find employment that makes use of your education and experience? Then you have come to the right place!

Workforce Employment Readiness and Connections Program (WERC) in Red Deer

Employment Readiness
This program is for anyone in the Red Deer region facing barriers to employment. 

Ballad’s customized training facility offers a range of  job preparation workshops, as well as hands-on experience in hospitality, agriculture and carpentry skills.

Clients of the program will have access to various supports including: Monthly living expense; Professional services (Psychologist and Social Worker); Support with transportation; Supplied work wear; and over 30 employment workshops including: career planning, stress management, overcoming career obstacles, effective communication, financial management, health & wellness; and safety certifications.
Ballad will help match you with local employers and support you as you transition into your new job.
 
Note: 18 years or older; currently unemployed or underemployed; Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada who is eligible to work and train in Canada
