The Language Assessment, Referral, and Counselling Centre (LARCC) provides a range of 45-minute in-person and online information sessions for newcomers, covering topics such as education, training, and more. 

 

Citizenship Language Requirements

  • An information session for permanent residents on how to prove their language proficiency for Canadian citizenship.

 

Credential Assessment for Newcomers

  • An information session for Internationally Educated Professionals about credential assessment options in Canada.

 

English Tests and Classes for Newcomers

  • An information session for newcomers to Canada about English tests, English levels, English classes, and conversation circles.

 

Post-Secondary Education in Edmonton

  • An online information session for newcomers to Canada about types of post-secondary education, bridging programs, and admission requirements

 

Student Financing for Newcomers

  • An information session for newcomers continuing their post-secondary education in Edmonton who want to finance their studies.

 

Training Options for Newcomers

  • An online information session for newcomers to Canada about occupational training, employment readiness, and entrepreneurship funded programs.

 

Volunteer Options in Edmonton

  • An information session about options available in Edmonton to help newcomers build their Canadian work experience, grow their local references, improve their English skills, and learn new skills.

FOR SERVICE PROVIDERS

  • LARCC programs and services. Information session about LARCC (20 mins.)
  • Newcomer literacy. Learn about the definition of literacy, some ways to address literacy issues during language testing and/or in a classroom; and useful resources available (60 mins.) 
  • Professional development workshops for English instructors.
