in Edmonton and Northern Alberta

This Directory is designed to serve as a general guide to various educational programs and services in Edmonton and Northern Alberta. It does not endorse any of the listed programs and services.

One on One Tutoring

One on One tutoring. We match adults who wish to improve their English, reading, writing, or math skills with volunteer tutors.  This free program serves learners who are permanent residents or Citizens of Canada residing in Alberta. Each volunteer tutor and student meet weekly for a two hour tutoring session.  They work on the goals the student identifies. If you or anyone you know would like to improve their English skills, call Dyan at 780-667-8441. The Learning Exchange (LEX) – General ESL, Pre-Beginner to Intermediate Levels

Community ESL Classes

LEX is a continuous enrolment program, with 5 levels of ESL instruction (Lower-Beginner to Intermediate) taught by volunteer instructors. Open to permanent residents, citizens and refugees. Classes are online and in-person.

Adult EAL at EISA

Community ESL Classes

This program is an integrated reading, speaking, listening and writing program with appropriate thematic units. This program offers 3 levels: 2/3, 3/4 and 4/5

Senior's English Classes

Community ESL Classes

English classes for seniors aged 55+. Classes will be in person or online. You will practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking about topics that interest you. We plan the lessons by listening to the learners. Our students enjoy the classes because they can spend time with their friends, but they are also learning about the services and activities in Edmonton.
